Mobil pump sets

When in the spring of the year 1997 „SIGMA Výzkumný a vývojový ústav, s.r.o.“ began to develop flood control pump sets, nobody suspected how soon this type of product would be needed. The first, today named “ The Moravian Flood” afflicted large territories yet during the summer of the same year.

Besides the prototype, that was sold to the Civic Defence Army Corps in Olomouc, since that time 7 pieces of mobile pumping stations have been sold, being used at present by the Fire and Rescue Corps of Brno, Hradec Králové, Olomouc, Prague, Ostrava cities and regions. One of the mobile pumping stations was delivered to the Slovak Republic by the “SARMAT” Company and now it is a part of munitions of the Civic Defence Army Corps. All Fire and Rescue Corps having been equipped by these sets, inclusive the Slovak Corps, participated in removal of floods consequences, namely in basins of rivers Vltava and Labe.

From first responses it is evident that our mobile pump sets went through with credit in those severe operational conditions. No objections have been raised against the main pump set (motor, coupling, or gearbox with coupling, pump), on the contrary – those pump sets worked without failures. However, there were some exceptions as for hard and thus time-consuming assembly of suction and discharge lines, suction strainer’s clogging, and so on. All users were asked for filling-in a questionnaire that would be valued and suggestions would be solved with the view of further innovation and advancement of those mobile pump sets’ accessories in the interest of higher and even better operational ability.

Setting this huge pump set has its own specificity, putting heavy, skilled and professional demands on operating staff, consisting particularly in evaluation of losing delivery heads both on the suction side (cavitation) and on the discharge side (pumping range). Further reserves then reside in the all-round policy of setting.

During these mobile pumping stations setting an inspection was realized of those three mobile pumping stations having been used by Fire and Rescue Corps in Brno, Olomouc and Ostrava, e.g. in the Terezin’s locality. One of those pumping stations re-pumped a lagoon beside the Judaic Crematory, another two stations worked in the cascade at re-pumping a flood’s lake in an open terrain.
